The guitar is many things - artifact, icon, tradition, craft.  Above all, a tool for musical expression.  I strive to create effortlessly playable instruments with a dynamic response and tonality suitable for solo and ensemble performance as well as individual practice.  Regardless of repertoire or setting, my goal is to build a guitar that is a natural extension of your creative intent.

I build each instrument one at a time, allowing me to focus my attention on every detail.  I begin each guitar by quantifying the physical characteristics of the raw materials I am working with.  During construction, I practice resonance tuning of the top and back plates, as well as the assembled guitar.  The data I collect, in tandem with my intuition honed from years of experience inform my process to create colourful and responsive instruments.

My journey in luthiery began as a teenager tinkering with electric guitars and effects pedals.  I further developed my skills by apprenticing in instrument repair with Miles Jones of Fretworks in Calgary, Alberta.  Eventually my musical tastes and building interests converged on the classical guitar.  It is a tremendous privilege to have access to superb materials, proper tools, and people who share a passion for fine musical instruments.
